To be entitled and permitted to collect any wild plant material, whether
these plants are endemic, rare, endangered, threatened, vulnerable according to
the Berne Convention or CITES regulations or not, you will need a permit to do
so. This also applies if you intend to collect and export any such material
gathered from the location to destinations inside or outside of the European Union,
especially if you are exporting to North America, where you will additionally
need an import licence and a phytosanitary certificate for your destination country.
It is absolutely no problem to locate, identify and photograph and measure
plants and plant material, including bulbs, roots, seeds etc, if
you adhere to the Berne Convention and CITES regulations and do not unduly
disturb the plant or its environment; but if you need to
collect, uproot, cut, sample or otherwise take plant material you will need the
respective permits from the government services. FLORACRETICA can advise you on
how to apply for these permits as we have over the past months established
contacts with the respective government authorities and offices.
In order to obtain these permits, it is essential to supply accurate and
certified information. To enable us to assist you in these matters, please
allow sufficient time for all paperwork to be submitted and cleared by the
necessary government departments. Licenses and permits will only be granted to
members of recognised organisations and institutes of higher education with faculties
relevant to the collection of any such plant material.
If you are not affiliated with an ongoing research project or university in
your country of origin, it may be very difficult or even impossible to obtain any such permit.
FLORACRETICA regrets that we are not able to offer any official information
on importation of any plant material into your destination. Please check with
your national government agriculture or respective authority for
importation requirements. FLORACRETICA can also not assume any liability or
responsibility nor offer any guarantee that any government permits, licences or
other documentation is actually issued by government agencies and services.
